Call for Sites - Local Green Spaces (LGS)

The Council is inviting submissions for sites that could be potentially designated as Local Green Spaces (LGS) in the new Local Plan. This is an important opportunity for communities to help shape how valued green areas are protected and managed for the future. 

To be designated, a site must meet certain criteria set out by national planning guidance. In summary, the land should be: 

  • Close to the community it serves 
  • Local in character, and not an extensive tract of land 
  • Demonstrably special to local people for its beauty, historic significance, recreational value, tranquillity, or biodiversity 

The consultation is open until 28 November 2025.
