Validation Guide: A guide to submitting Planning Applications (National and Local Requirements)
2.0 Electronic Submissions
2.1 The most effective method of submission is through the Planning Portal website. It is strongly recommended that you use it for all submissions. It will save you the cost of printing and postage and will help us to register your applications as quickly as possible.
2.2 We work in a paperless environment and therefore paper submissions are discouraged as they take extra administrative time to process. If you still wish to proceed, forms are available for download from the Planning Portal form chooser You can then post your application with the correct plans, supporting documents and correct fee to:
Planning Department
Central Bedfordshire Council
Priory House
Monks Walk
Chicksands
Shefford
Bedfordshire
SG17 5TQ
2.3 Some applications cannot be made currently using the Planning Portal, these are:
- Permission in principle
- Planning permission for mineral extraction or associated development
- Modification or Discharge of S106 Agreement Obligation.
2.4 For these applications you can download the application form from the Planning Portal and submit with the required information directly to us by email planning@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk Please note that we will not accept emailed applications where they can be submitted online via the Planning Portal or if the application is sent to any other email address.
2.5 When submitting applications via the Planning Portal, we require the following:
- no individual file size to be greater than 30Mb
- no .zip or .exe files to be submitted
- all documents should be correctly orientated
- plans to be drawn to scale and a scale should be included on the drawing (see drawing requirements against each application type for more information)
- drawings that contain wording 'Do not Scale' or similar will not be accepted
- when uploading documents and drawings, please be mindful of the document description. Accurately described documents on receipt will significantly assist with validation timings. The descriptions should match the indexing set out on the Planning Portal list
2.6 Applications will be made invalid for incorrectly labelled or formatted plans/documents
2.7 Further information on how to make an application can be found on our website How to apply for planning permission | Central Bedfordshire Council
